Under 15 Season Opener
Match Report
Cliftonville Academy U15 opened their season with a Graham Cup match against Carrickfergus on Friday evening. CACC captain Harvey Latham won the toss and decided to bat first. Unfortunately winning the toss proved to be one of the highlights in a very lacklustre CACC performance. Openers Harvey Latham and Adam Gooderham fell cheaply to some very accurate bowling. Some miscommunication led to Stuart Johnson’s dismissal. Connor Gillam and Ben Harrison failed to trouble the scorers before Daniel Bolton and Matthew McQuiston added a little respectability to proceedings. Ryan Ferguson, Matt Williamson and Adam Orr helped bring CACC up to an under par 36 all out.
In reply, Matthew Williamson was the pick of the bowlers although it was always going to be a difficult total to defend. Carrick were deserved victors by 10 wickets.
Although beaten this was a very young CACC side. With only two Year 11’s and several Year 10 and Year 9’s in the team this side will benefit from playing at this level.
